Why transform global trade?
Global trade is a key part of economies around the world, and has the potential to reduce poverty and inequality. One of the keys to making global trade accessible, is through trade finance.
But trade finance products are archaic and require significant effort from banks, while corporates often face rigid processes that need to be followed precisely. Making matters worse, global trade finance does not have digital infrastructure to drive process improvements or to remove the requirement for original paper documents that need to be couriered globally.
Leveraging blockchain to drive change
To drive the trade finance revolution, a global interconnected network of banks and corporates is needed. Decentralised technologies, like blockchain, have made network development possible through collaboration of existing market leaders, allowing the industry to work together on a common network.
Enter Contour. The company was launched to develop and deliver this core piece of digital infrastructure to be used by banks and corporates to optimise global trade. Through a collaboration of eight leading trade finance banks, Contour was formed to build this future for trade.
